concussion.
Children and teens are more likely to get a concussion and take longer to recover
than adults.
Each year, U.S. emergency departments treat an estimated 135,000 sports- and
recreation-related TBIs, including concussions, among children ages 5 to 18.
Recognition and proper response to concussions when they first occur can help
prevent further injury or even death.
